Nancy Drew is better-known of course, but I never liked one of her books so much that as soon as I finished it, I flipped it over and read it again, and again, and again. I did with Trixie. The worn condition of my books are from use, not age.

While both Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden are teen-aged girls who solve mysteries, the differences are far greater than the similarities. Nancy is 18. Trixie is 13 at the onset and later celebrates her 14th birthday, much closer to the age of targeted readers.

Nancy had gleaming, titan-colored hair that was rarely out of place, a flashy blue convertible, and a boyfriend, the handsome Ned Nickerson. She was way out of my league.
